Child Counselling (ages 3+).
Counselling children is different from counselling adolescents or adults. During the counselling session your child may play a game, paint/draw, play with toys, work with symbols and sand. These strategies are used to help your child feel comfortable and provide them with a alternative or additional means of communication. It allows your child to tell their story, sort out their problem and gain a sense of control over their issue.
Some reasons why a child might attend counselling are:
- Behaviour concerns
- Grief & Loss
- Social skills
- Separation of parents/family breakdown
- Bullying
- Anger Management
- Anxiety
- Abuse - sexual, physical, neglect
- Low Self-esteem
